Bennie Gregory Obituary
Born Dec. 27, 1946, in Barbourville, Ky., he was the son of William Ernest and Ona Mae (Tuggle) Gregory. He married Beverly McElroy Swain on Nov. 12, 1998, in Toledo. She survives.
Bennie worked for more than 30 years at Metalloy Corporation in Hudson, retiring in 2003 after the foundry closed. After retirement, he spent many years working at a job he loved with J.M. Auctions. He enjoyed all aspects of the auctioneering business from setup to buying and selling, and everything in between.
When Bennie was younger, he enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing. He also loved to search for morel mushrooms, frogs and worms.
In addition to his wife, Bennie is survived by his daughters, Michelle (William) Harris of Morenci and Jennifer Gregory of Fayette; stepsons, Brad (Cathy) McElroy of Adrian, Darren (Sondra) McElroy of Tipton and Sean McElroy (Pam Jose) of Clinton; sisters, Marsha (Frank) Kramic of Morenci and Ernestine (Paul) Wagers of London, Ky.; grandchildren, Bethany (Josh) Winters, Devon Harris and Noah Gregory; great-granddaughter, Melody Walter; stepgrandchildren, Lacey McElroy, Melissa McElroy, Lance Wilson and Tracey Ellis; and stepgreat-grandchildren, Joshua Doucette, Benjamin McElroy and Grace McElroy.
In addition to his parents, Bennie was preceded in death by his siblings, Denver Ray Gregory, Dwayne Gregory and Patricia Gail Bernath; as well as his beloved canine companion, Sandy.
A funeral service for Bennie will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Eagle Funeral Home in Morenci with Pastor Darren Lemmon officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation before the service, beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date in Canandaigua Cemetery.
