James Boozer Obituary
He was was born April 7, 1944, in Jackson County, Ala., the son of Clarence and Bertha (Pendergrass) Boozer. On May 16, 1970, he married Gloria Sweet in Adrian, and she survives. Jim served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from Ford Motor Co. after 30 years of service. Jim was on the National Executive Commitee with the Disabled American Veterans and also served in various positions at the state level of the DAV and the Lenawee DAV Chapter 20. He was also of member the Adrian Honor Guard Team that performed military honors for Lenawee County veterans. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Adrian where he served as an elder, council chairman, Sunday School teacher and was in the choir.
In addition to his wife, Gloria, he is survived by his daughter, Melissa (James) Tate; his grandchildren, Shane Tate and Karrah Tate; two great-grandchildren, Hailey and Lucas; one sister, Elizabeth (Roy) Deyo; three brothers, Earl Boozer, Claries Jr. (Liz) Boozer and Rob (Dolores) Boozer; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Pauline Strahan, Jane Boozer, Joyce Harrison and Katherine Samonek; and four brothers, Rayford, Edward, Wayne and Dwight Boozer.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 326 S. McKenzie St., Adrian, with Pastor Daryl Etheridge officiating. Burial will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh, with military honors performed by the Adrian VFW Post 1584 Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Highway, Adrian.
