Wayne Traub Obituary

ADRIAN - Wayne Hubert Traub, of Adrian, was taken to his eternal home on Jan. 26, 2021.

Wayne was born on May 20, 1935, in Riga to G. Hubert (deceased) and Edna (Goetz) Traub. He grew up on a small farm in Manitou Beach with his mother and step-father, Raymond Brinkerhuff. He graduated in 1953 from Addison High School where he was elected president of his class. He received an associate of accounting degree from Jackson Business University.

Wayne and Judith (Muehlenbeck) were married on June 15, 1963, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Adrian. He is survived by his wife, Judith, and their three children, Troy Traub of Las Vegas, Nev., Carmen Traub of Adrian and Kevin (Rochelle) Traub of Middleville, Mich.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, Steven Traub of Branford, Fla., Espen Traub of Wyoming, Mich. and Sierra Traub and Gracyn Traub of Middleville, Mich. He is also survived by his half-sister, Judith (Richard) Boley of Scottsdale, Ariz., and his sister-in-law, Carolyn Schmidt of Saginaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters-in law, Paula and Ruth Muehlenbeck; brother-in-law, Larry Schmidt and niece and nephew, Heidi and Matthew Schmidt.

He worked for Hardy Manufacturing in Hudson, as well as Lee Stamping & Machine in Addison, and its parent company, Teer Wickwire of Jackson, which then merged with Simpson Industries of Litchfield. Simpson Industries transferred headquarters to Plymouth where he retired in 1997.

He was a lifetime member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Adrian where he served over 30 years on the church council. He served for two six-year terms as board of trustees for the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod in Milwaukee, Wisc. He was elected to the board of the Lenawee County Commissioners where he served as chairman during the Bicentennial in 1976.

He enjoyed cars and drove through all 50 states, Canada, Mexico and 13 European countries.

The funeral service for Wayne will be on Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Adrian at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service with Pastor Brian Keller officiating. Burial will be held in Greens Lakeside Cemetery in Manitou Beach.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing regulations, only a limited number of individuals will be allowed in the church at a time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.
