Rosemary Donohue Obituary

Rosemary S. Donohue, age 86, of Rockville Centre, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025. Beloved wife of Donald for over 63 years. Devoted mother of Karen Whitford, Michael (Felice), Claire Maina (Robert), and Maureen Erickson (Paul). Treasured grandmother of Amanda, Kaylyn, Austin, Makayla (Ian), Trevor, Bria, Robert, Sophia, Maximilian, Grace, and Paul Jr. Rosemary's smile was always brightened by her grandchildren; they were her greatest joy. Rosemary's faith was the guiding light of her life. A devoted servant of the Lord, she shared her compassion as a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Consolation Ministry at St. Agnes Parish. She spent countless hours visiting both friends and new acquaintances at the Rockville Nursing Home, offering comfort, conversation, and prayer. Her dedication to her faith was recognized when she was elevated to Knight Commander of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre, a distinction that took her on pilgrimages to the Vatican and the Holy Land -journeys she cherished deeply. A lifelong resident of Rockville Centre, Rosemary gave generously to her community. She served as President of the Riverside Elementary School PTA for many years and, more recently, as a proud member and President of the Fortnightly Club of Rockville Centre. A graduate of Marywood College in Scranton, PA, and holder of a Master's Degree from Adelphi University, Rosemary's career reflected her creativity and love of people. After many years as a stay at home mother, she ventured into the work force as the owner of Rosie's Posies a wallpaper hanging business, then found success as a founding realtor at Village Homes Realty, and later as a Home Economics and Life Sciences teacher at East Rockaway High School, where she inspired countless students before retiring in 1999. Rosemary will live on in the hearts of all who loved her-for her joy of the beach and sun, her warm smile carried on the wind while sailing, and the kindness she shared in every word. But most of all, she will be remembered for the hand she held in love with her dear husband, Donald, for over 63 beautiful years. Family and friends may visit at Thomas A. Glynn & Son Funeral Home, 20 Lincoln Ave, Rockville Centre, NY 11570 on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 4pm to 8pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9:45 am St. Agnes Cathedral with interment to follow at Long Island National Cemetery at Pinelawn. May her faith, love, and kindness continue to shine through all those she touched.

Yesterday

My first real interaction with Rosemary was a significant one. She helped us plan my Father´s (Bill Kelly) funeral in 2011.
I would occasionally see Rosemary and Don at church. They would always stop to say hello to my sister, Mary Beth, and her husband, Fred, before leaving church. When we were there with them, she always had a welcoming smile for us.
May she Rest In Peace and may Don and the family find solace in remembering the love she poured out on them her entire life. Sending our condolences and prayers.
Christine (Kelly) and Gary Jacoby (Bill & Shirley Kelly´s daughter and her husband.)
