LIMA — Mrs. Alice Costella Davenport, age 87, passed from this life on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at approximately 2:17 a.m. at Lima Manor Nursing Home.
She was born on April 5, 1931 in Marion, Ohio to the union of James L. and Hattie B. (Crowder) West; both parents preceded her in death.
On February 22, 1953 she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Robert W. Davenport; he preceded her in death on April 1, 2015.
Mrs. Davenport was formerly a cook at Milano's, Corner Café and Thunderbird Restaurant. She also worked at Howell's Alterations. She was a member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church where she worked on the Kitchen Committee. She was a former Girl Scout Leader of Troop #76, she bowled with the Utopia Playmates and was a member of the Tops Club. Mrs. Davenport loved being a Mother and a Grandmother, she will truly be missed by her loved ones.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory a son; James E. Davenport of Lima. 3 daughters; Nancy Grant (Milton) and Teresa A. Bean both of Lima. Della M. Aydelott (Daniel) of Dayton, OH. 9 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death 6 brothers; Roy West, Earl West, Howard West, Carl West, Donald West and Charles West. 6 sisters; Ruth Bates, Frances West, Mary Clemons, Betty Russell, Dorothy Hixson and Shirley Owens. A daughter-in-law; Maureen Davenport.
Home Going Services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church with Rev. John E. Kidd, officiating.
Visitation/Wake will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. until time of services also at the Church.
Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery
