LIMA -- Barbara Jean Wingate, 81, of Lima, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on January 22, 2025, at 6:31 AM at Lima Memorial Hospital.
Born on June 22, 1943, in Lima, Ohio, to the late David O. Reynolds and Elizabeth (Wilson) Reynolds, Barbara brought warmth and kindness into the lives of all who knew her.
A proud 1962 graduate of Elida High School, Barbara dedicated 30 years of her life to Superior Metal (American Trim), where she was admired for her tireless work ethic and steadfast dedication. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she was a woman of simple joys-a good book in hand and football games on the screen, always cheering for the underdogs with her trademark enthusiasm and compassion.
Barbara's legacy of love lives on through her devoted son, David R. Wingate of Lima, Ohio, and her cherished siblings, Susan Reynolds of Blacklick, Ohio, and Donald (Cathy) Reynolds of Greenville, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, David and Elizabeth, and her dear brothers, John Reynolds and James Reynolds.
In lieu of flowers, Barbara's family kindly requests that contributions be made in her honor to the Lima Memorial Volunteer Auxiliary, a reflection of her enduring commitment to helping others and her deep ties to the community she loved so much.
Funeral Services: Visitation will take place on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Hanneman-Siferd Funeral Home, followed by a celebration of her life at 1:00 PM. Barbara will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery during a graveside service at 3:30 PM.
