Barry Burkholder

LIMA — Barry J Burkholder, 63, passed away August 18, 2021, at his home with his loving family by his side. Barry was born March 2, 1958 in Lima, to Bernard Sr. and Patricia (Gause) Burkholder; his father precedes him in death and his mother survives him in Lima. On September 23, 1977, he married the love of his life, Pat (Ellerbrock) Burkholder, who survives him in Lima.

Barry was a 1976 graduate of Bath High School and attended Rhodes State College. He worked in the Quality Control department of Pepsi for many years until his retirement in 2018. Barry enjoyed fishing with his cousin, Al, going out to dinner with his cousins, Kim and Beck and motorcycle trips with Bert and Mary. He loved water fights with the neighbor's grandkids and he was an avid bowler who was inducted into the Lima Bowling Association Hall of Fame; he had 32 perfect games. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Whether it was going to church, playing Uno or attending all of their events, Barry loved every minute he spent with his grandchildren; they were his life.

In addition to his wife and mother, Barry is survived by his sons, Paul (Mindy) Burkholder and Cory (Ginny) Burkholder; three grandchildren, Kaelee Burkholder, Xavier Burkholder and Broxton Burkholder; brothers, Bernard A Burkholder, Jr. and Bruce (Connie Ellerbrock) Burkholder and his sister, Jeanice (Dan) Whitaker.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Sylvia Mackey and Vickie Burkholder.

The Burkholder family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at the St. Rita's Cancer Center. Their kindness, caring and respect was very much appreciated and will not be forgotten.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 23, 2021 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL with Father David Ross to officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Rita's Cancer Center.
