LIMA -- Mr. Ben Franklin Johnson, age 91, passed from this life at approximately 6:39 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022 at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born on November 10, 1930 to John Wesley Johnson and Cora Lee (Darby) Johnson. Both parents preceded him in death.
He was married to Bertha Ann (Jennings) Johnson, who preceded him in death on May 16, 2020.
He was a member of Greater Christ Temple. He was employed at General Motors Corporation. He loved fishing, hunting and being outdoors.
He is survived by 3 daughters; Bonnie (Anthony) Smith of Lima, OH; Joann Howard of Lima, OH; and Vanessa Young of Cincinnati, OH. 4 sons; Herman Dixon of Cincinnati, OH; Reginald L. (Dana) Johnson, Jeffrey L. (Melissa) Johnson, and Darrell A. Johnson of Lima, OH. 32 Grandchildren and 28 Great Grandchildren. 2 Stepchildren: Robert (Gizzo) Simpson and Connie Washington (Steven) both of Lima.
He is preceded in death by 2 Brothers: Bennie M. Johnson and Ronald "Hollywood" Johnson. 1 brother; Louis Johnson; 7 sisters; Sarah L. Baker; Narciss Johnson; Hattie Butler; Irene Shealey; Della Bryant; Jessie Mae Johnson; and Mary Ridgeway.
Home going services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Christ Temple Church with Bishop Michael Cooper officiating.
Visitation/Wake services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. also at the church.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
