LAKEVIEW — Candace L. Stevely age 72, of Lakeview and formerly of Cridersville passed away 2:47 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018 at her residence. She was born Dec. 31, 1945 in Sidney, Ohio to the late Robert and Cleda Evans Wertz. She married Gary Stevely June 26, 1966 and he survives in Lakeview.
Candy was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where she had been very active as church and cemetery secretary, sang in the choir and had played the organ and piano for over 40 years, also playing for wedding and funerals. Candy had also been the Cridersville Village clerk for several years. She loved to read, take pontoon rides with the family and go for walks. She supported her grandkids with their sports and enjoyed taking care of them. She was a very compassionate person always putting others before herself.
Additional survivors include children: Todd (Carrie) Stevely of Marion, Ohio and Emily (Jonathan) Kamin of Vassar, MI and grandchildren: Ryan, Alexis and Noah.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday October 11 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The funeral will be 10:30 Friday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with Pastor James C. Couser officiating and burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery near Cridersville.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the music department at St. Matthew Lutheran Church and online condolences may be shared at BayliffAndSon.com.

Christel and I were so sorry to hear of Candy's passing. She was indeed a wonderful lady who never had a bad word to say about anyone and was a pillar of St. Matthews. She definitely will be, and already is, missed.
