LIMA — Carrie Funches (bay bay) 64, passed on October 21, 2021, at Lima Memorial Health System. Carrie was born on May 21, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, to M.C. Wilson and Ceola Wilson. Carrie, who was a twin, was the third born of six children.
Carrie attended school in Chicago at Shakespeare Elementary School, and Dusable High School. In 1976, she married Lewis Funches, and they had 9 beautiful children; Lewanist Wilson, Latonya Funches, Lasheva Funches, and Shamice Funches, and 5 boys; Lewis Funches, Larnell Funches, Lonnie Funches, Stephone Cole, and Steven Cole.
Carrie moved to Ohio, Ohio in 1998 with her family, she worked at the Lima YMCA for several years. Carrie was a very sociable person, a great cook, loved to be around her family, a softball player, volleyball player, she was quite the athlete.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Funches, her father; M.C, Wilson, her twin brother; Terry Wilson, daughter; Shamice Funches, a grandson; Dasmine Omosikeji, granddaughter; Alicia Omosikeji, her sister; Roberta Crawford, nephew; Bushon Funches.
Carrie leaves behind to cherish her memories, her mother; Ceola Wilson, 3 daughters; Lewanist Wilson, Latonya Funches, Lasheva Funches, 5 sons; Lewis (Shawna Glover) Funches, Larnell Funches, Lonnie (Tenetta Whiteside) Funches, Stephone Cole, Steven (Jasmine Springer) Cole. 29 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 sisters; Mertice McNeal and Diane (Harvey) Boddy, plus 2 brothers, her special-sister Paula, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
A joint visitation for Carrie and her daughter Shamice Funches will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at Grace Worldwide Ministries 2945 Wells Dr. Lima Ohio 45804.
Joint Services will be following the visitation at 12 noon, officiated by Pastor Ron Fails.
Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help this family with Funeral Expenses, as this tragic situation caught all off guard.
