CHARLES WINKLE
SPENCERVILLE — Charles J. "Charley" Winkle, 84, of Spencerville, formerly of the Indian Lake area, died 1:15 a.m., Sat. Aug. 29, 2015, at Roselawn Manor, Spencerville.
He was born Aug. 13, 1931, in Springfield, OH, the son of Clifford & Grace (Bowens) Winkle, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 24, 2000, he married Norma J. Monfort Binkley, and she survives. He was previously married to Norma Jean Stephenson Detrick and she is deceased.
Survivors include, a step-daughter, step-children, Starla (David) Amos, Lincoln, CA, Jean Binkley Slone, Wapakoneta, Bruce (Diane) Binkley, Spencerville, Leanna (Kevin) Fosburgh, Mascoutah, IL, step-grandchildren, Jesse Kent, Emily (Reggie) Venable, Elspeth Johnson, Joelle Johnson, Bob (Mallory) Binkley, Mike (Kara) Binkley, Daniel Binkley, Joe (Lynnae) Fosburgh, David Fosburgh, Lexie (David) Higbee, Loni (Jason) West, Kevin W. (Hailey) Fosburgh, Linzi (Eddie) Gonzalez, Brandon Slone, Lauren Amos, & Kelsey Amos, step-great grandchildren, Carter Venable; Tyler, Emma, Reagan Fosburgh; Haylee, Trent, Logan, William, & Laycee Higbee, Brooklyn, Bryce, Brielle, & Sylas West; Arianni, & Natalie Gonzalez; & Leighton Fosburgh.
He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Winkle, a brother, Kenny Winkle, and a sister, Ruby Wilt.
Charley retired in 1990, as an inspector at General Dynamics. Prior to that he owned and operated the Bellefontaine Swimming Pool, a restaurant and catering service. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Kossuth, OH, and the U.A.W., Local #2075. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events and movies on TV. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Sat. Sept. 5, 2015, at the Huntsville Cemetery, Pastor David Howell and Kevin Fosburgh officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery.
There will be no public visitation. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Zion United Methodist Church or St. Rita's Hospice.
Arrangements are being conducted by the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville.
