LIMA — David E. Phillips, age 73, passed away on October 18, 2021, at 9:19 am, at Lima Memorial Health System.
David was born on January 25, 1948 in Lima, Ohio to Robert Phillips and Phyllis (Binkley) Conley, both of whom preceded him in death.
He graduated from Allen East High School and worked for many years at the DANA Corporation, where he eventually retired in 2006. He was a follower of Christ and enjoyed being a member of both The Bridge Church in Lima and River Life Church in Dunnellon, Florida. Florida was his second home, and he took every opportunity to stay there during cold Lima winters. He had a passion for cars and motorcycles. Whether it came to driving, buying, showing, trading, selling, or working in the garage, David was in his element when he was around vehicles. He loved car shows, and had a particular affinity for Chevys, Camaros, Chevelles, and Harleys. He even used to drag race in his younger years. He loved to golf and bowl, and was known to be on as many as three bowling leagues at a time. He enjoyed firearms and was a patriotic man who loved freedom and had great pride for his country. He was also a former member of the Lima Elks Lodge #54. Above all else, he loved his family and he particularly loved spending time with his grandchildren. David was an exceptional man and will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Dave and I worked together at Dana for thirty years. We took a couple of cycle trips to Ashville and Daytona Bike Week. Going to miss the gentile giant. My condolences to the family.

Sad and surprised to hear of Dave´s passing. We have been friends since the sixties, cruising North street, both in Impala Super Sports. Many times we would reminisce of those days when he came to the Casa Lu Al. I will be in Florida and unable to attend his memorial but you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
