LIMA - Denton Lee Sullivan passed into rest on June 27th, 2023, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center after complications from Parkinson's Disease. He was born on April 9, 1947, to Regis and Martha (Hawk) Sullivan. In 1973 he married his beloved wife Nancy (Sisak) Sullivan and they enjoyed nearly 50 years of marriage together.
Known locally as the giant of Shawnee High School's 1965 State Runner Up basketball team, his true stature was of the heart: Gentle, kind, faithful, and honest, Denton shared freely, listened gladly, helped willingly, and looked for ways to make people laugh. The co-owner of Sullivan Insurance for 40 years, he was a member of Shawnee Alliance Church, and was active in local boards, charities, and the Lima Noon Optimist Club. He co-founded a nonprofit daycare called Children of Light to assist disadvantaged families and cared deeply for his community. He supported his Cincinnati Reds win or lose; snuck table food to every manner of pet that found its way into the home; and cherished having his grandchildren so often around him.
He is survived by his brothers, Regis Jr. (Penny) Sullivan and Craig (Debbe) Sullivan; father-in-Law Nicholas Sisak; brother-in-law Jeff (Janet) Sisak; children, Grant (Maralee) Sullivan, Annie (Martin) Stehli, and Brendan (Alicia) Sullivan; and grandchildren, Patrick, Paige, Sawyer, Louis, Benjamin, Roger, Aiden, Gavin, Mya, Roman, Noah, and Judah; as well as nephews, nieces, and his much-loved cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Regis Sullivan, Sr.; his mother, Martha Sullivan; and his mother-in law, LaRue Sisak.
Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 6th at Chiles Laman Shawnee Chapel. with Rev. Daniel Messner officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday July 5th at the funeral home.

Craig,
As a kid that grew up in the old neighborhood I have many memories. May God give you His peace during this time. It's a much nicer neighborhood that your brother resides in now!

From the neighborhood on Holmes Avenue to adult life at Shawnee Alliance, I have many fond memories of the Denny described in his life's legacy. He was a quiet man, towering above the rest of us in so many ways. He was a visionary who quietly accomplished the vision. Remember when he started an orchestra at Shawnee Alliance and was brave enough to get out his dusty trumpet to get things started?
Nancy and family, I rejoice with you today that he is with Jesus and that you will see him again because of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

He was a wonderful person and friend....and will be truly missed...
