LIMA -- Shirley M. Bixel, age 92, of Lima passed away, 3:08 p.m., Saturday, February 28, at Wyngate Senior Living. She was born August 3, 1933, to the late Wilford H. and Ethel A. Glaze. She married Roger L. Bixel July 26, 1959, and he preceded her in death March 30, 2021.
Shirley graduated from Shawnee High School in 1951 and went to work at Baldwin and Hamilton where she met her husband, Roger. She later went to work at the Ohio Department of Transportation and retired from there.
She was a member of Southside Christian Church and had been a volunteer for Lima Memorial. She enjoyed golfing and cooking and was a big sports fan, cheering on Ohio State and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Survivors include a son Brian Bixel of Lima and a sister-in-law Ruby (Michael) Logan of Harrod.
She was preceded in death by a brother Wilford R. Glaze and a sister Meredith M. Truex.
Friends may gather at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home at 9:30 Saturday, March 7 and the funeral would follow at 10 :30 with Pastor Todd Cosart to officiate. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be given to Southside Christian Church and online condolences may be shared at BayliffAndSon.com.
