Lesa Christine (née Blundell) Bixel, 59, of Jamul, California, was tragically and unexpectedly lost on March 3, 2025.

Born in San Diego on September 9, 1965, Lesa grew up in Claremont, where her boundless energy, quick wit, and generous heart made her unforgettable.

Lesa didn’t just make friends—she made family. Whether you had known her for years or had just met her, she had a way of making you feel special, like you belonged. She was the person who remembered birthdays, checked in just because, and always made sure there was room at her table.

She built a remarkable career in construction accounting, earning the respect of an entire industry over 35 years. Known for her sharp mind, dedication, and relentless work ethic, she was recognized as a “Woman of Influence in Construction” in the San Diego Business Journal in 2025.

But Lesa’s greatest legacy is the life she built with the love of her life, Douglas Bixel. Their love story wasn’t just about finding a partner—it was about creating a home full of warmth, laughter, and unwavering devotion. When she married Doug on September 13, 2002, she wholeheartedly embraced her role as a mother to his young sons, Aaron and Blake, loving and supporting them as her own.

Together, they built their dream house—a place that became the heart of legendary Halloween parties, magical Christmas celebrations, and her exclusive “Friendsgiving” dinners. Lesa loved nothing more than filling her home with joy, music, and the people she cherished most.

When she became a grandmother, her heart expanded even more. Being “Grammy Lesa” to Jacob, Valerie, and Preston was one of the most cherished roles of her life. She poured her heart into her grandchildren, filling their lives with laughter, encouragement, and unconditional love.

Lesa lived life with passion. She was a die-hard San Diego Padres and Kansas City Chiefs fan, who cheered loudly (and colorfully) whether she was at the stadium or in her living room. She adored heavy metal concerts, attending as many as she could, because music—like everything else in her life—was meant to be felt deeply and lived fully.

More than anything, Lesa was a protector, a giver, a force of nature. She took care of everyone—her family, her friends, and even her beloved three Pomeranians. She carried the weight of others without complaint, always making sure the people she loved were supported, encouraged, and knew they were valued.

A Reception and Celebration of Life will be held on April 5, 2025, at Paradise Point Resort in San Diego.
