SPRINGFIELD - Fred A. Marsee, 88, of Springfield, Ohio passed away peacefully at Springfield Masonic Home on January 5, 2022. Born June 2, 1933 in Claiborne County, Tennessee, he was the son of Franklin George Marsee and Birdie Hensley Marsee. On June 12, 1955, he married the love of his life, Beverly (Myers) Marsee.
Fred graduated from Rockford High School, Rockford, Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Ohio University, and subsequently graduated from the School of Banking at both the University of Wisconsin and Rutgers University. He served in the United States Air Force.
Fred modeled his life after his God-revering, coal mining father. He was a natural born entrepreneur, never without a business plan. "Without a plan, a dream is only a dream. "At age 11, he sold Cloverine Salve door to door in Rockford, OH. By 25, he was the youngest bank president in the state of Ohio. He was a national bank examiner for the US Treasury and was involved in starting Tower National Bank in Lima, OH. He served as CFO for several companies and was a financial consultant for corporations all over the world.
Fred never met a stranger, had a heart of gold and always had a kind word for every person who crossed his path. He loved everyone and did whatever he could to help others. He was an active member of Lions Club (Lima, OH and Reno, NV), Antioch Shrine (Dayton, OH) and Elks Club (Lima, OH). He was a Master Mason belonging to Shanes Lodge in Rockford, OH, Morningstar Lodge #795, Springfield, OH, Scottish Rite, York Rite and Antioch Shriners of Dayton.
Fred was a loving husband and father, always focused on providing for his family. He was extremely social, loved people, traveling, having fun and making special memories. He had a magnetic presence. He loved pizza and card parties, was a great dancer and could have written a book on "gift of gab". After he retired, he enjoyed painting. He created many special paintings, including a collection of his family heritage, The Hensley Settlement at Cumberland National Park.
Fred is survived by his wife, Beverly of Springfield; daughter, Debbie Marsee Asbill of Columbia, SC; son, Stephen Marsee (Teresa) of Dayton, OH; daughter, Pamela Young (Joseph) of Marysville, OH; 5 grandchildren - Jarrod Goare (Brittany), Westerville, OH; Lindsay Hodges (Blake), Greenwood, SC; Brett Goare (Lacey), Marysville, OH; Tiffany Goare (Matt Kates), Raymond, OH; Jake Millwee (Ashley), Indianapolis, IN; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Rex Marsee (Kay), Loudon, TN.; a brother-in-law, Lester Myers (Bonita), Convoy, OH and many nieces and nephews.
