ST. MARYS -- Fred L. Shawhan, Sr., 82, of St. Marys, OH died Saturday January 6, 2024 at JTDM Hospital in St. Marys.
He was born November 27, 1941 in Dayton, OH to Earl L. and Dora Beatrice (Andes) Shawhan.
On November 27, 1970, he married Rosemary T. Severt, who died May 29, 2010.
Survivors include: son Michael (Tina) Shawhan of Deplhos, OH, daughter Karen Shawhan of Butler, PA, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and another due any day sister Frances (Dennis) McClelland of Hamilton, OH, loving companion Elizabeth Williams and her children Delphos, OH.
Preceded in death by: parents Earl and Beatrice Shawhan; wife Rosemary Shawhan; infant daughter Barbara Joann Shawhan; son Fred Shawhan, Jr.; brother Harold Shawhan; brother Charles Shawhan; brother Floyd Shawhan
He was a graduate of Lemon Monroe High School in Monroe, OH.
Fred worked as a pipefitter for the union in Lima, OH for many years.
He was proud to have made numerous blood donations to the American Red Cross. In his younger years, he served as a volunteer fireman for departments in Hamilton (Liberty Twp.), Lima (Bath Twp.) and Cridersville, OH.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Rev. James O. Byrne Knights of Columbus Chapter #1592 (4th degree), both in St. Marys..
Rites are scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday January 30, 2024 at the Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street in St. Marys. Private burial will take place at the Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery in St. Marys.
