Herbert Grismore Obituary
BLUFFTON -- Herbert Allen Grismore, 95, passed into the arms of his Savior April 6, 2024 at the Mennonite Memorial Home of Bluffton. He was born January 4, 1929 in Bluffton to the late Clarence and Clara (Geiger) Grismore.
On June 3, 1951, he married Marie (Bishop) Grismore who preceded him in death. They were blessed with three children, David, Clare and Charlotte Grismore. On December 5, 1971, he married Jane (Bridges) Cherry, a widow with three children, Barbara, Thomas and Christine Cherry.
Herb is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane Grismore; children, David (Terri) Grismore of Pandora, Charlotte (Bill) Adams of Huntertown, Indiana, Thomas (Christine) Cherry of Columbus Grove, Christine (Mark) Capper of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; a son-in-law, Kent (Rachel) Cherry of Pandora; nineteen grandchildren and over forty great-grandchildren.
Herb was preceded in death by a son, Clare Grismore; step-daughter, Barbara Cherry; two grandchildren, Tony Grismore and Emily Grismore Meyers; and four siblings, Maurice Grismore, Wayne Grismore, Mildred Ruggley and Helen Grismore.
Herb lived his life on a farm. He loved anything to do with farming and country life. Herb was a farmer and then owned and operated Grismore Farm Drainage for forty-two years. He was known as a quiet, humble man of integrity and wisdom. Herb had a deep and solid faith. He enjoyed gardening, reading and times with his family. Herb was a member and supporter of Pandora Missionary Church. After retiring, at age 86, he volunteered at the Bluffton Senior Center for nine years.
Herb's services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Pandora Missionary Church. Pastor Matthew Steiner officiating. Interment will follow in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pandora Missionary Church or Bridge Home Health & Hospice. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
