Jacqueline Bakies Obituary

LIMA -- Jacqueline Faye "Jackie" Bakies, 70, of Lima, passed away at 4;45 AM on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Lima Convalescent Home.

She was born on June 30, 1954 in Lima to Joseph F. Bakies, Sr. who preceded her in death and Joyce Faye (Beckett) Bakies, who later married James J. Enz and they both preceded her in death.

Jackie was a Bath High School graduate and had worked as a welder at Lima Electric Motor for over 26 years, where she had also served as the former president of their union.

She enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. Jackie was one of many important ladies on the first team after Title IX in 1971, Bath Woman's Basketball, along side with the Gretchen Prichard Program and GAA. Surviving are her siblings Joseph F. "Joe" Bakies, Jr., her Irish twin Judith M. Bakies, Jennifer J. Bowsher, Jamie W. (Craig) Tigner all of Lima, Mike (Betsy) Bakies, Pat (Dawn) Bakies, Andy Bakies and Lisa (Kevin) Bame; her nieces and nephews Joseph F. (Teri) Bakies III, Jason R. Bakies, Jill M. Bakies, Bradley A. (Lindsay) Swick, Brittney J. (Jacob) Swick, Brandon J. (Tayler) Swick, Jesssica (Kenny) Mault, Emily (Josh) Mull, Andrew (Stacey) Bowsher, Joyce Courtney (Michael) McDonald, John (Laura) Parent and Natalie Schafer. Also surviving are her thirty-four great-nieces and great-nephews, one great-great niece and her special cousin Joann Graham.

She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Gene Bowsher; her nephew Kyle Bowsher; her maternal grandparents Wipple and Lowell Jennings and John Beckett; her paternal grandparents Fred and Gladys Bakies.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lima Convalescent Home for their care and her dialysis team and a very special thanks to her transportation driver and friend Dave Walker.
