JAMES HANF
ELIDA — James B. "Jim" Hanf, 81, died at 1:40 AM on Tuesday, November 05, 2013, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
James was born on October 05, 1932, in St. Mary's, Ohio, to the late Irvin Hanf and Florentine (Schneider) Hanf.
James married Nancy Schmidt on June 7, 1952 in Lima. She survives in Lima. He served in the United States Marines during the Korean War. He retired from Clyde Evans Grocery Shop. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and was an usher. He was a life member of the VFW post 3035 Delphos, Lima Eagles, Senior Citizens and played Euchre on Tuesdays. He was an avid Lima Central Catholic T-Bird fan. He was an Eagle Scout, enjoyed carpentry, loved God, his family and his country. He was a 1950 graduate of Delphos St. Johns High School, Delphos.
He is survived by: daughter Linda (Michael) Kriegel, of Easley, SC, daughter Rosemarie (Mark) Feison, of Lima, OH,; a daughter Janet (Matt) Marshall of Elida, Ohio; a son James E. (Suzanne) Hanf, of Bluffton, OH; a daughter Victoria (Dennis) Pohlman, of Delphos, OH; fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; a Brother John "Jack" (Iona) Hanf, of Ft. Jennings, OH; a sister Mary Schnipke, of Delphos, OH; a brother-in-law Maurice Schmidt, of Phoenix, AZ,
He was preceded in death by: a sister Norma Best; a brother Ted Hanf,
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, November 08, 2013 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 09, 2013 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Lima, with Father David Ross officiating.
Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery Delphos with a VFW Service conducted by Post 3035, Delphos.
Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 119 N Cole St., Lima, Ohio 45805 or Food for the Poor or L C C Scholarship Fund.
