James Ketcham Obituary
CAIRO -- James Arthur "Ketch" Ketcham, II, age 75 of Cairo, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022, at 10:02 a.m. at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Ketch was born February 20, 1947 in Lima to James and Helen (Fitzgerald) Ketcham who preceded him in death. He was previously married to Ann Catherine (Bailey) Ketcham who survives.
Surviving are his daughters: Stacey Ketcham of North Olmstead, OH, and Tracey (Brian Winget) Ketcham of Lima, OH; three grandchildren: Toree Stewart, Cody Willoughby and Bella Willoughby; a great-granddaughter, Bexley Boyles. He was preceded in death by his Basset Hound, Cletus.
He was a graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy and served a tour in Vietnam. He was a deputy for the Allen County Sheriff's Office for 30 years. He also taught law enforcement at Apollo Vocational School, Findlay University and Tiffin University.After his retirement, he provided security for Magnum Truck Sales. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Buckeye State Sheriff's Association. He enjoyed chewing Grizzly Wintergreen Long Cut, going to old car shows and eating breakfast at the Sugar Street Inn. He loved being involved in law enforcement.
Services will begin at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, with Justin Courtney officiating the service. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Homecare and Hospice.

Our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the Ketcham family. Ketch was larger than life, a great officer and longtime friend. We´ve all lost a good man; may he Rest In Peace.

Sorry to read about your loss Cathy. I worked at the LPD and remember Ketch, and worked close with him for several years. I remember you when you worked at Dome's nut shop when I had to walk the beat for 1 month and you gave me a "sit down" spot to rest my feet at inside the store. The last time I saw Ketch was at the Eagles Club in Lima and he told me he enjoyed eating breakfast at the Sugar Street Inn. He was a Great guy and he and Larry Van Horn were Great at what they did and were always together when they were working. He will be missed. Just so many Good memories and life is so short.
