LIMA -- James Timothy Quatman, 76, of Lima passed away peacefully at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born on November 5, 1948 in Lima to Joseph B. and Margaret (Hemm) Quatman, who both preceded him in death.
Tim attended the newly established Robin Rogers School, Marimor School and eventually The Marimor Workshop. He loved the relationships he had with classmates, co-workers, teachers and staff, alike. He earned many Honors and recognition for his years of diligent work until his retirement. He was a proud member of the Explorers Club, directed by Officer Randy Kohli, and the St. Charles Parish of Lima.
Despite having been born with Cerebral Palsy, bringing significant physical and mental challenges, Tim thrived and flourished throughout most of his life. He enjoyed many family vacations, visiting sites all over the country and marveling at their splendor. Always with a cheerful smile "Timbo", as he is affectionately known, exuded a gentle, kind-hearted nature that never failed to win over new friends. Every Fourth of July, a "Timbleton Tournament" was held featuring games, BBQ and fireworks with many extended family and friends, Timbo was the Honorary Host each year and he loved it.
Tim resided with his beloved brother Steven, in their own home and was assisted with around the clock professional personal care. He developed strong bonds for those caregivers who provided him with the same affection, especially Stephanie (I.H.S.), who has seen him safely through many ordeals. The family is indebted to her and the many dedicated people who provided for his comfort and care. Likewise, Marimor School and Workshop in collaboration with the Allen County MRDD have provided a lifetime of invaluable resources, services and support in helping to enrich Tim's life including Rebecca.
Countless other people have also rendered some form of assistance over the past years, in home and out, including the caring and compassionate doctors, nurses and staff at St. Rita's Mercy Health, ER, ICU, Hospice and Shawnee Township EMT's. The family is grateful, Thank you.
Surviving are his brothers Joseph (Lisa) Quatman of Lima, Steven Quatman of Lima; his sister-in-law Barb Quatman of Lima; his brother-in-law Jim Wade of Wilmington, NC. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Jon Quatman, George Quatman; his sisters Judy Klepper, Lynn Quatman Barrie and Jacqueline Wade.
Private family services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be on the family plot in Graceland Cemetery, Sidney.
