WAPAKONETA -- James J. "Jim" "Yogi" Warniment, 87, of Wapakoneta, passed away at 3:17 p.m., Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Wapak Manor.
He was born on January 13, 1938 in Miller City, OH to John M. & Mildred I. (Conkrite) Warniment who preceded him in death. On June 22, 1963 he married Mary Ann Schaub and she survives.
Survivors include 2 sons Steven (Connie) Warniment of Wapakoneta, Dan (Brenda) Warniment of St. Marys; 7 grandsons Scott Cunningham, Sean Warniment, Nathan Warniment, Zach (Jenna) Dammeyer, Cory (Ashley) Dammeyer, Alex (Bailey Laux) Dammeyer, Seth (Brayden) Warniment; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law Gene Schaub; 3 sisters-in-law Judy (Carl) Kempfer, Linda (Jack) Cole, Cindy Schaub and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law Robert Eugene (Connie) Warniment; mother and father-in-law William (Viola) Schaub and 2 brothers-in-law Richard Schaub and Robert Schaub.
Jim was a 1955 graduate of Kalida High School. In 1961 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve until 1967 receiving an honorable discharge. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 44 years of service. He loved hunting, fishing, wood carving and being outside. He greatly enjoyed helping people with remodeling projects. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amvets-Lakeview and Brands Lake Fishing Club.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Sean Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with military rites being performed by the V.F.W. Post 8445. Family and friends may visit from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The family would like to thank the Wapak Manor and Legacy Hospice for their excellent care of Yogi.

Mary Ann and family.....I was so sorry to read about the passing of Jim. I have known him all my life. We were neighbors at one time. I remember playing with Jim and his brother Bob. Love and prayers for you and your family.

Yogi Warniment was a great friend and fishing and hunting buddy of mine and we even enjoyed a beer or two once in awhile. Rest in peace my friend!
