NAPOLEON — Jan Sleigh, 71, passed away in the arms of Jesus on Friday, May 11, 2018 following several years of illness. She was the firstborn to the late James E. and Norma M. (Allemeier) Guy in Lima, Ohio, on May 13, 1946. Jan is survived by her sister, Janean Guy, Columbus, and two brothers, James A. (Kathy) and Joseph R. (Jeri) Guy of Lima.
A brother, Jack E. Guy, preceded her in death, as did her first husband, John D. Lee and their son, John David Lee. Also passing before her, was second husband, Jesse Sleigh, and lastly, her dear friend and companion, Mike Bertram.
Jan's marriage to Mr. Sleigh produced four children, Trevor and Angela of Napoleon, Wesley Tyler of Wauseon, and Carrie (Mark) Sonnenberg of Napoleon. They survive along with Jan's grandchildren, Desmond, Wesley (Maria), Andraya (CJ Watts), Teagan and Tate Sleigh, Art and Adante' Warren, Kylie Yocco, Gage Dalton and Steve (Brooke) Leskow. Jan's great-grandson, Aaron Watts also survives. She also leaves aunts, and uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews and a special family from Missouri.
She found great joy in, was much amused by and was so proud of her children and grandchildren and their individual accomplishments. She loved each one dearly.
Being fond of nature, both living creatures and the great outdoors, while living in rural Missouri, Jan had over 132 animals and fowl, ranging from peacocks to rabbits to a horse. She was an avid reader, enjoyed a variety of crafts, loved emailing and watching the Cleveland Indians baseball, NASCAR racing and survival and competitive reality TV programs.
Jan was Baptized and Confirmed in the Lutheran Church. It was her Christian Faith and her belief in Everlasting Life that kept her strong in adversity.
Per her request, there will be no services. Memorial gifts may be made to a Christian Church of the giver's choice. The family is under the care of Snyder-Hoening Funeral Home of Holgate, Ohio. Family and friends are invited to share a memory of Jan and sign the online guestbook at www.hoeningfuneralhome.com.
