Jane Firestone Obituary

COLUMBUS GROVE -- Jane E. Firestone age 86 of Columbus Grove passed away 11:50 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022 at Bluffton Mennonite Home. She was born at home on the farm April 13, 1936 to the late Robert and Margaret (Bogart) Tudor. She married Daniel Firestone November 1,1959 and he passed away in 1969.

Jane was Valedictorian of her Vaughnsville School class of 1954 and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1958. She was a proud member of Gamma Phi Beta and sang in the symphonic choir. She was a Buckeye fan for life and always ready to lead the singing of the OSU fight song!

She taught at Wooster City Schools, Columbus Grove and retired after 34 years of teaching from Allen East in 1998. She was the favorite teacher of many and touched many lives through her years of teaching. She was a member of the Allen East Retired Teachers and Vaughnsville United Methodist Church.

She loved her home near Vaughnsville and took great pride in maintaining her lawn and creek bank. She enjoyed watching over the happenings in her neighborhood from her kitchen window. She was always happy at home and never had a desire to go many places but when she did she always took the time to look nice, she loved beautiful clothes. She loved the Cincinnati Reds, Duke Blue Devils and all things OSU, especially football and basketball. She will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit, she never knew a stranger.

Jane is survived by her brother Owen (Jocelyn) Tudor and their son Rob (Cathy) Tudor, son Tim (Chandra) their daughters: Serenity and Sasha (Devin) Firestone; daughter Janelle Firestone of Wooster and her sons Marshall and Loudon Firestone.

Services will be Sunday, October 16 at 3:00 p.m. at Vaughnsville United Methodist Church where the family will receive visitors from 1 to 3 prior to the service. The family encourages everyone to wear their favorite team gear with the exception of Michigan colors. Private family burial will be in the New Pittsburg Cemetery near Wooster at a later date.

Online condolences may be shared at BayliffAndSon.com and memorial contributions may be given to Vaughnsville United Methodist Church, Vaughnsville Community Center or Bridge Hospice.

Jane, you were a great friend and neighbor. Sadly, its been a while since I last saw you.
Jane could keep me standing in front of her house where we could talk for hours!
She was proud of her career as a teacher. I'm sure she was a great one.
I'll always remember seeing her on the mower. She kept her yard very nice. We would always exchange a wave, asany times we were both in our respective yards mowing!
You are already missed, Jane. RIP
