Janet Thiesing

LIMA — Janet E. Thiesing, age 92, passed away December 23, 2018, at 5:15 am, at the Lima Manor Nursing Home. Janet was born August 2, 1926 in Lima, OH, to Perry E. and Ruth A. (Cook) Percy who preceded her in death. On December 27, 1947 she married Ronald E.Thiesing who survives in Lima.

Janet was a 1944 graduate of Lima Central High School where she was the "Head Majorette". She then earned an Associate's Degree in Business from BGSU in 1946. After college she started her family and focused on raising her children. Once raised, she then began her professional career as a realtor in 1972. She first began with the Gooding Co. and finished her career with Yocum Reality. She had worked collectively as a realtor for 22 years with 8 of those years as a "Million Dollar Producer". Janet was a life-time member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where she had served as secretary to the "Official Board". She also belonged to the Officer in Women's Society at the church. Other memberships she was a member of are: PEO, Chapter DM (where she was the longest surviving member in the State of Ohio), Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, Altrurian Club, Cottilion Club, YWCA (where she had served on the board and also as a Teen Committee Chairman) and the Shawnee Country Club. She also spent 8 years on the Board of Directors of the Lima Real Estate Association, the Book and Motar Board Scholastic Society, charter member of the Lima Art Association, Girl Scout Leader at Roosevelt School and the Boys Basketball coach at Westwood School (where they had an undefeated season).

In addition to her husband, Janet is survived by her children: Marcia (Red) Redlaczyk of Whitmore Lake, MI and Mark Thiesing of Lima, OH and 5 grandchildren: Robin, Megan, Eric, Christina and Kurt and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald E. Percy passing one day prior to Janet, and a sister, Marcine Percy-Westerman.

There will be a memorial service held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Officiating the service will be Rev. John Foster. Burial of cremated remains will be in Woodlawn Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will be from 10-11 am at the Trinity United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Allen County Humane Society or to Trinity United Methodist Church. The family has entrusted the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL in assisting them with funeral arrangements.
