MIDDLETOWN — Mr. Jermaine Joe Shelby-Bono Mtafiti Vusa, age 43, passed from this life on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at approximately 9:53 p.m. at his residence in Middletown, Ohio.
He was born in Lima, Ohio on July 13, 1977 to the union of Larry and Bernadine (Smith) Shelby; both parents survive in Lima.
On January 22, 2003 he was united in holy matrimony to Jackie K. (Pryor), she survives in Middletown, OH.
Mr. Shelby worked as a correctional officer at Lebanon Correctional Institute. He was a member of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church where he confessed Christ, the New Black Panther Party and he taught a class in African Culture.
Besides his loving wife Jackie, he leaves to cherish his memory a son; Jermaine L. Shelby and a daughter; Trinity N. Shelby both of Middletown, OH. A brother; Maurice Shelby of Lima. 2 sisters; Nachosha Shelby and Catreese Shelby both of Lima. Maternal grandmother; Bertha Smith and Annie Shelby both of Lima. A host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers; Charlie Smith and James Shelby.
Private services will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Arnold Manley, officiating.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 10:00 am. until time of services also at Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
