John L. Springer

1942 - 2021

LIMA — John L. Springer, age 78, passed away April 11, 2021, at 1:30 am, at the Lima Memorial Health System. John was born July 13, 1942, in Florence, AL, to Isaiah Ross and Josie L. (Martin) Proby who preceded him in death. On October 27, 1996, he married Sheila (Jennings) Springer who survives in Lima.

John had worked for 18 years with IUPAT Local #1020 as a sandblaster and painter from which he retired in 2005. John enjoyed fishing and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children: John Eric Springer of Lima, OH, Josette Springer of Lima, OH, Ryan (Kristina) Lyle of Botkins, OH, Aaron Jennings of Lima, OH, John Lee Springer III of Lima, OH, Jasmine Springer of Lima, OH, Jermaine (Janice) Springer of Lima, OH and Gwendolyn "Denise" Fisher of Lima, OH, 30 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Greer, twin daughters, Regina and Trina Owens, 2 brothers: Bill Springer and Joe Springer, a sister, Martha (Thomas) Lyons and a granddaughter.

There will be a funeral service held on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at 11:00 am at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Officiating the service will be Bishop Michael Cooper. Burial of cremated remains will be held privately at a later date.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
