WAPAKONETA — Joseph L. Schwer, 88, of Wapakoneta passed away 9:30 p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the Gardens of Wapakoneta.
He was born August 18, 1929 in Lima, Ohio to Ollie & Marguerite (Hiatt) Schwer who preceded him in death.
On June 17, 1950 he married Alice M. Kohler and she passed away on October 11, 2011.
He is also survived by three daughters and three sons; Sandy (Denny) Harrod of Palm Coast, FL, Joseph M. (Pam) Schwer, Julie (Dale) Zwiebel, Tom Schwer all of Wapakoneta, Jeff Schwer of St. Marys and Jamie (Jon) Waterman of Wapakoneta; 11 grandchildren Matt (Kim) Harrod, Doug Harrod, Jason Schwer, Brett Schwer, Lindsay (Justin) Amaral, Jeremy Zwiebel, Brittany Zwiebel, Jackson Waterman, Justine Waterman, Danielle Stein and Travis (Tiffany) Schwer; 8 great grandchildren; and a sister Anita Temenoff.
He was preceded in death by three sisters Mary Lu Stroh, Virginia Springs, Lois Ruck; and two brothers Paul and Richard Schwer.
Joseph was a 1947 graduate of Blume High School. He retired from Teledyne Ohio Steel where he was an inspector. He enjoyed watching sports especially the Cincinnati Red and Bengals and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to begin at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday October 3, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev. Sean Wilson will be officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with military rites begin performed by the V.F.W. Post # 8445. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Monday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services 615 N. Dixie Hwy., Wapakoneta.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
