LIMA -- Julie Denise Jackson Fought, age 72, and cherished wife of Gary and beloved mother of Joshua and Heidi has gained her wings. She believed her mother and sister Darcy, (both have passed away) would meet her on the other side with arms outstretched to greet her.
Born in Sidney, Ohio, August 2, 1952 to Donald Lee and Leonteen K. (Gritzmaker) Jackson who both preceded her in death.
Julie graduated in 1970 from Wapakoneta High School. After graduation she married the love of her life and soul mate, Gary Dean Fought on August 7, 1971. She took pride on being able to be a stay at home wife, mother and mamaw. She was a devoted mother of their children, Joshua C. (Lisa) Fought of Ponte Vedra, FL, Heidi C. (Josh) Snyder of Wapakoneta, OH. She felt honored to be the "baby" of her two sisters, Stephania (Tom) Keller of VA and Darcy (d) and (Patrick) Barthel of Canton, OH. In 1971, she was blessed with a new baby sister Aimee Clayton after her mother, Lee (d) married Howard Clayton (d).
Being a Mamaw to Jackson P. and Hudson C. Fought, Logan, Morgan and Brooklyn Snyder were the sunshine of her life. She was proud to be a stay at home wife, she cherished every minute she spent with them and loved them "to the moon and back". Also surviving is her friend of fifty five years, Tami McCoy of Lima, OH and she is preceded in death by her godmother, Jean Wildermuth.
Julie was a cat lover and wouldn't turn down a stray. She will be dearly remembered for her love of animals especially her fur baby cats which she had at least one of all her life. The ocean was her favorite place to be and also gave her a lot of inspiration to some of the poems she wrote.
Reading poems gave her a lot of comfort. The following poem by Mary Elizabeth was one of her favorites: Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on now. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the mourning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush, Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there, I did not die.
Honoring her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral ceremony.
Her remains will be entombed at Pearl Cemetery, Sidney, OH at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Donations may be made to Type 1 Diabetes in hopes for a cure for her granddaughter and other children stricken with Type 1 Diabetes.

I played Bunco for many years with her sister, Stephanie, and Julie! We had lots of laughs during that time. She will be missed. Loved the poem! RIP
