LIMA — M. Thomas Dee, 85, died at 6:48 AM on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.
Thomas was born on March 24, 1936, to the late Maurice Dee and Doris [Stewart) Dee.
On July 5, 1958, he married Susan (Schilling] Dee.
He graduated from St. Rose School in 1954. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Ohio Northern University and a Master of Science in Education from St. Francis College. Tom was a 33 -year educator, counselor and assistant principal with the Lima City Schools and former 4th Ward City Councilman.
He served in many leadership capacities and awarded many accolades including Life Member of BPOE # 54; past president and member of the Lima Allen County Regional Planning Commission; licensed in real estate; recipient of Exchangite of the Year and Distinguished Club Secretary in support of the service to the Exchange Club; assisted in building the FOP/FOPA Scout House; served on the executive committee of the Lima Area Soap Box Derby, and co-authored a text book used to educate the youth on drug abuse. In addition, he was a longtime volunteer at the Lima Memorial Hospital and a past member of St. Charles Parish Council. He and his wife visited all 50 states and traveled the world.

MO, Cassandra Dee, Columbus, OH, Amber Dee, New York, NY, Kayla Dee, Lima, OH, Patrick (Emilee) Henry, Indianapolis, Indiana, Lauren Henry, Longview, TX: Host grandchildren: Johanna (Khalid Farrag) Zimmerman, Munich, Germany: Isabelle(Sebastian Jarl) and son Julian, Stockholm, Sweden: Thiara (Wesley Muniz) Potratz, Santa Maria de Jetiba, Brazil: Lissa (Sebastian Wuerst) Achtermeyer, Bonn, Germany: Lidia (Alexey Intelegator) Supranova and son Mathew, Boston, MA. Also survived by his brother, Donald (Sarah)
Dee, Lima, OH, brother-in-law, George Gerecke, Burlington, VT. numerous nephews & nieces.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Rosemary (James) Stepleton, and Patricia Dee Gerecke, and a nephew, Terrance Stepleton, Sister-in-law - Gale & Linda (Schilling) Boedecker.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 Monday, June 14, 2021, at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at St. Charles Catholic Church Father Thomas will officiate.
Interment of ashes will take place in Gethsemani Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Allen County Council on Aging/Elderly Day Care Center.
