Marcel Miron

1940 - 2021

LIMA — Marcel J. Miron, age 80, passed away, early in the morning on August 21, 2021, at his residence.

Marcel was born on December 20, 1940 in Montreal, Quebec to Maurice Miron and Annabelle (Simard) Miron, both of whom preceded him in death. On June 5, 1970, he married Patricia (Lentz) Miron who preceded him in death on July 22, 2021. Marcel was a beloved man, known to most by the name "Frenchy." He first came to the United States in the early 1960s to work at an oil refinery for the FLUOR Company in Rochester, New York. Soon after, Marcel came to Lima to work at the Lima Refinery through the FLUOR Company. He served in both regions as a talented pipe fitter and welder. He then worked at BLH - Clark Equipment Company for 10 years and eventually retired from General Dynamics Land Division in 1995. He was proud to have helped manufacture the M1 Abrams Tank. He finished out his career by helping his son, Bill, establish the plumbing and HVAC company, Mirons LLC.

Marcel had a deep love for his community, was a very generous man and well respected and honored by everyone. He was very involved with the YMCA as a member, and greatly enjoyed participating in their weight lifting competitions. As a Boy Scout Leader he chaperoned many troop and school trips. Marcel was a member of UAW Local 2075. He attended Lima Senior basketball and football games loyally for over 20 years and was known as a Special Spartan. He was an avid volunteer with the Lincoln PTA and especially enjoyed lending his time to help them with their Carnival. He also worked side by side with his wife for the Lima Allen County Neighborhoods In Partnership, and the Hoover Park Neighborhood Association. Marcel loved his country, democracy, and was a major supporter of President Donald J. Trump. He enjoyed reading, bicycling, and visiting casinos. He loved vacationing in the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area, as well as camping with his family at Indian Lake earlier in life. He greatly enjoyed going to the Allen County Fair every year and being a part of that community event. He was a consummate family man, and loved spending time with those closest to him. He was a major supporter of all of his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. Marcel was always there to stand up for his children and taught his boys how to grow into the men they would become.

Survivors include: children, Hoyt Money, Bill (Beth Seibert) Miron, Chris (Brad) Sterling, Gregg (Linda) Miron, Maurice "Moe" (Christina) Miron; siblings, Diane Miron and Michele Miron; as well as grandchildren, Jamie Money, Stacy (Alan) Lowery, Elizabeth (Dalton) Miron, Kristen (LeRonn) Seibert, Cassie Seibert, Kelley (Nick) Seibert, Bret (Sabrina) Whitaker, Nick Whitaker, Brittany Sterling, Trevor Sterling, Zack (Keely) Miron, Chris (Lyndsey) Whitaker, Katelyn Miron, Leah Miron, Jeremy (Sara) Pedersen and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: parents, Maurice and Annabelle Miron; spouse, Patricia Miron; siblings, Eugene Miron, Therese Miron, Rene Miron, Ginette Miron, and Henri Miron; as well as grandson, Chad David.

A memorial service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at the Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes Shawnee Chapel.

Father David Ross will officiate the service.

Public Visitation will take place prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., also at the Shawnee Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Chapter of the American Cancer Society in honor of Marcel's struggle with cancer.
