LIMA — Our gentle, sweet wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great, great grandmother, Marjorie E. "Margie" Carter died peacefully on September 24, 2021, at Mercy Health –St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
Margie was born November 14, 1930 to the late Mary Beryl (Gross) Swartz and Jacob Earl Swartz. She grew up on the Swartz Farm, learning to sew and to play violin and piano without one lesson. She had two siblings, Maxine Swartz and Marilyn Chadwick who are deceased. On March 13, 1949 she married Donald (Gene) Carter, a marriage which lasted 73 years.
Margie was a Waynesfield United Methodist Church organist for 62 years. She also worked as the church secretary and taught piano lessons for many years. She continued her love of sewing, making many of her daughters' clothes, including wedding and prom dresses.
She is loved and survived by her husband, Donald (Gene); her children Sherry (Tom) Grove, Randy (Alice) Carter, and Lori (Dale) Madaj. Also surviving are grandchildren: Chet (Linda), Doug and Eric Barton; Lott Carter and Ashley (Brendan) Thompson; Brad (Brandie), Nate (Jamie) Madaj, and Wes (Carley) Madaj;, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be at Waynesfield United Methodist Church, 2:00 p.m., Wed. Sept. 29, 2021, with Pastor Greg Wack officiating. Burial is to follow in the walnut Hill Cemetery, near New Hampshire, OH. The family will receive family and friends from 12 p.m., until time of the service Wed., at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Waynesfield United Methodist Church. She loved pink, so wear something pink if you want! marge was our neighbor for many years and Pat enjoyed their many visits after many years of choir practice together. A gentle and kind lady who will be missed by all.

Margie was one of my best friends. I will forever remember her smile , her love for life and her talent in music. Heaven is certainly gaining a wonderful angel...my heartfelt sympathy to the family. SEE YOU LATER , MARGIE !!!
