COLUMBUS -- May Helen Redding Zimmerman, beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
May was born on August 26, 1982, to Thomas and Nancy Redding in Lima, Ohio. She was a 2001 graduate from Lima Central Catholic High School and received her bachelor's (2005) and master's degrees in education (2006) at The Ohio State University. She was a loving and devoted special education teacher at Violet Elementary in Pickerington for 15 years. Recently, she was a reading specialist at Hastings Middle School in Upper Arlington.
May married Michael Zimmerman on July 23, 2011, at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Their beautiful marriage welcomed four wonderful children, Allison Mary Ann, Michael Paul, Sara Rose, and Hanna Mary.
May was devoted to her vocation as a wife and mother, and selflessly gave everything to her family. She was a model of patience, love, generosity, extreme wit, sharp intelligence, and unending faith. In her spare time, she was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially Andy DiLuciano, an extra special friend to Mike and May. Her love of games, jokes, and smiles will be fondly remembered by all who know and loved her.
May is survived by her loving husband, Michael, son Michael Jr., daughters Sara and Hanna; her sister, Anne Redding, her cousin and cousin-in law, Jennifer & Adam Shankland; her mother and father-in-law, Ann & Gary Zimmerman; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Aaron & Amanda Zimmerman, and Nick & Kerri Haynes; her nieces and nephews Clayton & Leo Zimmerman, Anthony King, and Zachary & Alivia Haynes. In addition, her beloved list of friends and extended family are too long to mention, but we are grateful to all of you for the prayers and support at this time. May loved you so much.
May was proceeded in death by her infant daughter Allison Mary Ann, and her parents Thomas & Nancy Redding.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 5-8 P.M. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Rd. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 10 A.M. at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, 1088 Thomas Ln. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.

We, the families of The Compassionate Friends, send you our heartfelt condolences. The Compassionate Friends is an international grief support group for parents, grandparents and siblings who have suffered the heartbreaking loss of a child. Our only mission is to provide comfort, hope and support to every family experiencing the death of a son or daughter, brother or sister, or grandchild, and to help others better assist the grieving family. We meet twice monthly in Columbus from 7-9 PM on the second Tuesday and 2-4 PM on the fourth Sunday at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1479 Morse Road, Columbus, Ohio 43229.
