Nancy Steiner Obituary

NANCY STEINER

LIMA — Nancy Baxter Steiner, 75, was born on April 11, 1939 in Lima, Ohio to the late Harry R. and Rose Mihm Baxter. She died on June 24, 2014. Nancy is survived by her beloved family and her husband of 53 years, Dr. David B. Steiner, a daughter, Sarah (John) Esterkyn of San Francisco, California, a son, David Steiner of Kamuela, Hawaii and four grandchildren, Nathan Esterkyn, Jakob Esterkyn, Baxter Steiner, and Nicholas Steiner.

Nancy was preceded in death by her sister, Mary (Steven) Bornstein.

Nancy was a 1957 graduate of Lima Senior High School and a 1961 graduate of The Ohio State University. She was an instructor in the Dental Hygiene Department at OSU while David attended medical school. The couple resided for several years in New Orleans, Louisiana and Portland, Oregon before returning to Lima in 1972.

Nancy was a member of Shawnee Presbyterian Church, now Faith Christian Church, where she served for a time as an elder and a deacon. She served for over 20 years as a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District.

Nancy enjoyed traveling, reading, knitting, gardening and especially time spent with her family and friends.

A Family Memorial Service will be held at Faith Christian Church at a later date.

Memorials may be sent to Faith Christian Church, the Johnny Appleseed Park Foundation of Allen County for the Nancy R. Steiner Metro Parks Internship Program, 2355 Ada Road, Lima Ohio 45801, or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are by CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
