OTTOVILLE – Robert J. "Bob" Trenkamp, 82 of Ottoville, passed away at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born June 24, 1941, in Ottoville to the late Henry and Marcella (Vogt) Trenkamp. On November 24, 1962, he married Helen M. Webken, she preceded him in death on January 25, 2017.
Bob is survived by four children: Lisa (Eric) Kaufman of Mt. Vernon, Jeff Trenkamp, Lynn Trenkamp, both of Ottoville, Lesley (Wes) Tabler of Akron; a daughter-in-law: Rochelle "Shelley" Trenkamp of Ottoville; seven grandchildren: Alysia (Elliott) Smallwood, Laura Kaufman, Mike (Alyson) Kaufman, Rachel Kaufman, Danielle (Ryan) Mangas, Dustin Trenkamp and Dana Trenkamp; five great-grandchildren: Ethan, Elijah, Evan, Addison Smallwood and Hattie Mangas; a sister: Margaret Warnecke of New Bremen; a brother: Richard (Trish) Trenkamp of Lima; and his dog: Beans.
He is preceded in death by a son, Robert "Rob" Trenkamp; a brother-in-law, Donald Warnecke; and two great-grandchildren, Alexandria, and Owen Smallwood.
Bob was a lifelong farmer. In 2000 he retired from Ford Motor Company, Lima. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville. Bob enjoyed restoring International Harvester tractors and plows. He also enjoyed camping and fishing trips to Canada. Bob loved to sit on his porch, wave and talk to passersby.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville with Very Reverend George Mahas officiating. Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville at a later date. A visitation will be held on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township with a scripture service at 1:45 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Putnam County Council on Aging.
