Stanley Hill Obituary

LIMA -- Stanley Wyman Hill, 93, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and undoubtedly heard those words we all long to hear one day, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant". Next in heaven, he was greeted by his bride of 55 years, Rosie, who awaited this day for the last 3 years. He was then greeted by countless family and friends who loved him dearly. Oh what a joyous reunion for him on February 27, 2025.

Stan was born at home in Hardin County on May 31, 1931. He attended Roundhead School for all 12 years and graduated in 1949. He entered the US Army in 1951 and served during the Korean War. He came home in 1953 and worked as a civilian at the phone company.

He decided to go back into the army in 1957, however, the army told him he was "too old" at age 25. So he joined the US Navy and served on the USS Yorktown, the USS Kitty Hawk and during the VietNam War. He retired from the Navy in 1977. He worked several civilian jobs after he retired from the military including Drury Chemical, Shawnee United Methodist Church, Temple Christian School and finally at the Andersons. He also volunteered at St. Rita's Medical Center between 2000 and 2014.

Stan was an active member of every church he attended and served in the bus and van ministry bringing many people to church. He was a faithful member of Lima Baptist Temple for over 20 years and later served at Open Door Baptist Church.

Stan awaits to be reunited in heaven one day with his 4 children; Gary (Starlah Bartlett-Hamilton) Hill, Wendell (Ann) Hill, Tom (Kyra) Hill, and Joy (Jeff) Sherer-Ratliff; his grandchildren: Alex, Zach, and Aaron Hill; Andrew, Amanda, and Austin Hill; Emily, Jordan, Justin, Lilly, and Lauren Hill; Garrison and Laci Sherer; his step-grandchildren, Conor and Will Ratliff; his special chosen grandchildren, Shayne Walkup and Shannon Walkup-Pancake; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Jean Mack.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Goldie Hill; brothers John Jr., Wendell and Alan Hill; two sisters, Marian Butler and Garnet Rodeheffer; a beloved daughter in law, Chris Perry Hill and a beloved son in law, Howard Sherer.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Shawnee Chapel with Pastor William Turner to officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the funeral home.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Open Door Baptist Church or Lochaven Assisted Living Bingo Fund.
