LIMA — Theresa Ann Basinger, 61, passed away at 8:24 a.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Mercy Health St. Rita's in Lima. Theresa was born on August 24, 1960 in Lima, Ohio to the late Virgil E. and Georgia Mae P. (Nichols) Thines. She was previously married to Jon Basinger.
Theresa was a 1978 graduate of Lima Central Catholic and a member of St. Rose Catholic Church. She was very involved in her church and worked as a custodian at St. Gerard Catholic Church as well as in their prison ministry. She had worked at Lima Memorial Hospital for 20 years prior.
Theresa loved her Catholic faith and was consecrated to The Blessed Mother's Immaculate Heart and to St. Joseph. She was given the grace to join her Lord on The Feast of The Immaculate Conception and the final day of The Year of St. Joseph.
She is survived by her mother, Georgia Mae; daughters, Karrie (Ryan) Weber of Delphos and Kelly (O.J.) Logan of Nashville, TN; three grandchildren: Haley Logan, Olivia Logan and Dakota Weber; brothers, Timothy (Shelley Barton) Thines of Findlay and Lawrence (Jenny K.) Thines of Lima; sister, Lucy (Randall) Garland of Elida and Amy (Richard) Pina of Mesa, AZ; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p. m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, with Rosary Service at 4 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 13, 2021 at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Father Mike Sergi will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in Gethsemani Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Masses at St. Gerard Catholic Church or St. Rose Catholic Church, or to St. Gerard's Prison Ministries.
