LIMA – He was a good man. Warren Dalton Horn, 84, of Lima, fell asleep in death on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Warren was born May 10, 1939, in Wyandot County, Ohio, the second child born to Chester and Nora (Wolford) Horn, who both preceded him in death. On July 24, 1960, he married Gretchen (Rodgers) Horn, who survives him in Lima.
Growing up on the family's farm near Forest, Ohio, Warren learned the value of family, and of hard work, early in his life. He spent his adult career in factories, having worked at Superior Coach, Sheller-Globe, finally retiring from Accu-Built in Lima. He was never happier than when he had a job to do.
In 1967, Warren dedicated his life to his God, Jehovah, joining a worldwide brotherhood of those striving to lead a Christian life. He served as an elder in the Lima Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for 50 years. He always had the perfect scripture to share with someone who was hurting, and his words brought comfort to countless individuals over the years. (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4)
His greatest pleasure came from helping others. Everyone who knew him would describe him as loving, generous, and humble, always putting others first. He was a good and gentle man who will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Gretchen, Warren is survived by brothers Ronald (Rosalie) Horn of Forest, OH; Stanley (Phyllis) Horn of Fairfield, OH; sister Carolyn Welsh of Fishers, IN, and stepbrother Charles (Barbara) Brunkhart of Forest, OH. Warren was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Ronald Welsh, stepmother Ethel Horn, and two stepbrothers, Donald and Robert Brunkhart.
Warren leaves behind three children, Douglas (Eva) Horn of Lafayette, OH; Steven (Angela) Horn of Lima; and Valerie (Juan) Mejia, of Brunswick, GA.
Also left to mourn him are eight grandchildren, Rachel Horn, Andrew (Megan) Horn, Riley (Melanie) Horn, Devin (Elizabeth) Horn, Maria (Jesse) Shanklin-Fleming, Martalena Mejia, Samuel Mejia, and Micah Mejia. Warren also had four great-grandchildren, Malachi Mejia, Tyler Shanklin-Fleming, Henry Horn and Ripley Horn. We would be remiss if we did not mention that Daisy, his beloved Shih-Tzu, misses him also.
Funeral services for Warren, which will include a Bible-based talk including some of Warren's favorite scriptures, will take place on Saturday, December 9, 2023, 1:30pm, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 703 West Bluelick Road, Lima, OH 45801. The talk will be given by Brother Collin Deitsch. Family will be present for visitation for one hour prior to and following the service.
