Patricia A. "Pat" Buckles

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL - Patricia A. "Pat" Buckles, 78, formerly of Lincoln, Ill., entered eternal life at 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital after a long illness with Alzheimer's. She was born on Feb. 2, 1936, in McLean, Ill. the daughter of Paul and Juanita (Bateman) Paulsen. She married Clarence Ritchhart in 1953, and later married Frank Buckles..

Pat attended St. Patrick's school and graduated from Lincoln Community High School. She worked at the Clerk of the Courts in Lincoln, Lincoln Developmental Center as an executive secretary until moving to Florida, where she worked as a property manager at Promenades East Condominium Association, until she retired in 2004.

Pat was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, Port Charlotte.

She enjoyed boating, gardening, cooking, traveling to Cover Bridge Festivals, decorating her home, but most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also loved returning to Lincoln to visit family and friends.

Pat will be greatly missed by her son, Dale (Connie) Ritchhart of Port Charlotte, Fla.; daughters, Pam (Marty) Anderson of Jupiter, Fla., and Christy (Erik) Hewitt of Louisville, Ohio; longtime companion, Louie Cianciulli; grandchildren, Angie Ritchhart, Joy (Steve) Keyishian, Roy (Mel) Zimmerman, Ryan (Julia) Zimmerman, Cassie (Jose) Santiago, Ryan (Andrea) Anderson, Courtney Richhart, Alicia (Bryan) Anderson, Ashton (Scott) Zimmerman, Samantha Hewitt and Alex Hewitt; and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Diane) Farmer and Larry (Carol) Farmer, both of Lincoln, Ill.; sister, Darla (Al) Cheatham of North Carolina; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving parents; husband, Frank Buckles; son, Rusty Ritchhart; and brothers, Kenneth Paulsen and Russell Farmer.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Institute on Aging, Budget Officer – Financial Mgmt., Branch, Bldg 31, Room 2C-06, 31 Center Drive MSC2292, Bethesda, MD 20892-2540; please note Alzheimer's contribution in memory of Patricia Buckles.

Arrangements are by Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services, Punta Gorda, Fla.

Our hearts and prayers go out to all the family, especially our dear daughter-in-law, Christy. It was a privilege to have Pat as part of our family, and we will miss her. We will remember her beautiful smile and her laughter. Rest in peace, dear Pat.

We will dearly miss Patricia. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Her smile and personality would light up the room. She blessed our family with so much over the years. She will be missed by so many.
