PHYLLIS GAY CHAPMAN, 90, of Branchland, WV went to be the Lord on Sunday December 15, 2024, at home.
She was born December 14, 1934, in Wayne County, WV, a daughter of the late Raymond and Maymie Baker Mathews.
She was a charter member of the Lincoln Baptist Church, Branchland, WV, where she held numerous positions. She loved the Lord, her church, and her family.
Her life was so beautiful and loving that words cannot express the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.
She is also preceded in death by a brother, Sydney Mathews; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert Linville and Edward and Nary Chapman.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, George Chapman; two daughters and son in-law, Patricia Bostic, and Kimberly (David) Cook; two grandchildren, Kelly McCoy and Caleb Cook; a sister, Juanita Linville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rosemary Mathews, Lena Lindborg, Charles (JJ) Chapman, Sharrell Chapman; several nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Huntington for all their compassion and care.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday December 18, 2024, at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV with Travis Edwards officiating.
The burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery, Branchland, WV.
A visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
