GREGORY FINNEY Obituary

GREGORY FINNEY 12/26/1953 - 08/09/2025 Gregory Lee "Doc" Finney, 71, of Brookfield, Mo., passed away on August 9, 2025, surrounded by his family at Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield. Greg was born on December 26, 1953, in Brookfield to Herman L. Finney and Donna Rogene (Spencer) Finney. He attended Brookfield High School and later worked as a laborer in the construction industry. Greg enjoyed life's simple pleasures and cherished time with his family. He could often be found scratching lottery tickets, camping in Shelby, and attending tractor and truck pulls. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting for rocks, and spending time at Helm Street Inn with his friends. Greg was a proud member of Brookfield Eagle's Lodge and was always up for a good laugh and good company. He is survived by his children, Crystal Gaus and husband John of Kahoka, Mo., and Jason Finney of Craig, Mo.; four grandchildren, Lachrisha Florea and husband Justin of Kahoka, Erica Harrison and husband Tanner of Kahoka, Peyton Holder (Shon Jackson) of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Dayla Gaus of Quincy, Ill.; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Douglas Finney and wife Dottie of Godley, Texas, and Sandra Renshaw of Brookfield; as well as several other relatives and friends. Greg was preceded in death by his parents and his special friend, Cindy Phillips. A celebration of Greg's life will be held at a later date. Memorials to Bear Branch Cemetery may be left at or mailed to Wright Funeral Home, P.O. Box 496, Brookfield, MO 64628.
