BEVERLY JEAN O'CONNELL

1928 - 2025

Beverly Jean O'Connell, of Acampo, California, passed away peacefully in Sacramento, California, on September 2, 2025, at the age of 97 years.
She was born in Berkeley, California, on June 30, 1928, to Eugene and Maude Verbeck. She had one sister, Maude Snow. Following graduation from Berkeley High School, she worked at the Walter N. Boysen paint and varnish company in Oakland, California.
In 1949, she married the love of her life, Robert Maurice O'Connell. Together, they had five children. They made their first home in Walnut Creek, later moving to Concord, Pleasant Hill, Woodbridge and ultimately to Acampo, California. Bev and her husband Bob were the owners of Lakewood U-save Liquors in Lodi. She worked at the store after their children had grown.
Bev was a member of the Woman's Club of Lodi and she was a "Pink Lady" with a Lodi Memorial Hospital auxiliary. She enjoyed being a member of her Bunco group for nearly fifty years. Family was always her greatest love. She was a loving wife, and was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who made every family gathering special. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children Michael (Sharon) O'Connell of Lodi, Kerry (Doug) Hutmacher of Lodi, Patrick O'Connell of Galt, Todd O'Connell of Elk Grove and Kevin O'Connell of Woodland; grandchildren Lynnette Reeves, Raylyn Weyand (Stacy), Merrill Weyand (Linda), Ryan O'Connell, Kelly Eiseman, Amanda Carrasco, Madison O'Connell and MacKenzie O'Connell; sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert O'Connell, her parents, Eugene and Maude Verbeck and her sister Maude Snow.
Graveside services will be held at Cherokee Memorial Cemetery in Lodi, CA. on Wednesday, September 17 at 1:30 pm.
