Florence Hieb Obituary

Florence Featherston Hieb, 1918-2018, deceased on February 15, 2018. She was the loving mother of Merrill Featherstone, Lucia Richards and Christine Crawford, and grandmother of Sara Sequeira, Adam Richards and Anna Streeter, and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her spouse, Roy Hieb, sisters, Ellen Edwards, Katherine Fenton, and Margaret Sampson, and parents, Renick and Florence Featherston.  A resident of Clements and Lodi for all of her 99 years, she graduated from Lodi Union High School and Merritt College in Oakland. She was active in community organizations and contributed years of service in volunteer work. She loved her later career choice of being a teacher/counselor for the San Joaquin Adult Activity Center in Stockton where she taught for 15 years. Florence will be remembered by all for her wonderful sense of style, her beautiful homes and gardens, her special parties, and mostly for her loving care of her husband, children and grandchildren, who were the delight of her later years.  Her legacy lives on with enduring family traditions and her example of giving to others.

Hickey,
You were such a blessing to me when I was growing up. You always treated me so nice. I used to think how lucky Merrill, Lucia and Christie were to have you. I must have knocked on your door everyday and you would always answer with such a sweet smile. Someday, I will be knocking on your door again. You were a great wife, mother and friend.
Until we meet again,

To the Hieb Family, Merrill, Lucia, and Christine. We loved Aunt Florence (Hicky) and love her family. Enjoyed all the Easter gatherings. Our hearts go out to you for the loss of your mother. As a nephew of Aunt Florence, I feel a great loss. Aunt Florence was always so glad to see us. She often remininiscenced of life on the ranch in Clements where she grew up. Robert loved being at that ranch.

Thank you, Carol, for you remembrance of Florence. She dearly loved being a charter member of the Lockeford-Clements branch of the Lodi Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

To Florence's Family- I am so sorry for your loss. Your Mother was a great lady & always made me feel welcome when I would visit your home. She did her best to instill her ladylike qualities into Lucia & me; I'm afraid we sorely vexed her at times. Please know I love you & Miss you. Always a friend- Judy Brown

Dear family of Florence: I had the pleasure of working with Florenece for nearly 20 years at the hospital where she was a volunteer auxiliary member. She and her fellow volunteers would present the lovely Valentines' Day Luncheon fundraiser for the hospital annually. It was always a special event, much to do with Florence's involvement. After she "retired," I visited her in her cozy home, and we became even better friends. She was a love and a very classy person. I admired her and enjoyed her company. Florence was just lovely. What a long and giving life she had. Thank you for sharing her with us.
