Janet Robinson

1935 - 2022

Janet Fink Robinson passed away at the age of 87 on Sunday November 13, 2022 following a long illness. Janet was born in Lodi, California on November 9, 1935 to Minna and Gustave Fink.  She lived in Lodi, a town and a community she loved, practically her entire life.
Janet attended local schools and graduated from Lodi High School. She was a Grape & Wine Festival Princess in 1952.  While at Lodi High, she met Dean Robinson, who was in the class year above her. They would become high school sweethearts and their love for each other would be expressed in countless ways every day over their next 71 years together.
Janet graduated from the College of the Pacific (UOP) in 1957, after 3.5 years, in order to marry Dean. She taught school in Washington State, where the newlyweds initially lived having welcomed their first son, Kirk, in 1958. They eventually moved back to Lodi where Janet taught school and her husband had an optometry practice for 32 years. A second son, Mark, was born in 1965. As a mother, she was an incredibly thoughtful and selfless supporter of her two sons whether it be on athletic fields, in school elections and everything in between.
Janet  was very active in community affairs serving as President of the Omega Nu Sorority as well as using her talent for design as a member of SPARC (Site Planning and Architectural Review Committee) for the City of Lodi for eight years.
After raising her children, she pursued a lifelong interest in painting, working in oil, pastel and watercolor. Her works were shown throughout the San Joaquin Valley at both city and winery exhibitions. Friends and family members cherish her paintings and they will remind them of Janet far into the future.
Janet enjoyed traveling, throughout her home state of California, the United States, and the world. She would capture many of her destinations with a photograph as an inspiration for her paintings.  She also enjoyed gardening, especially growing beautiful flowers, and decorating her home for every holiday. She was a World Class pie maker in the eyes of her family.
The written word fails to capture the love Janet expressed for family; her children, their children and most of all her husband Dean. Their devotion to one another, as best friends that began as teenagers in the library of Lodi High School is a legacy for all their family and friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband Dean in December 2021. She is survived by her two sons, Kirk Robinson (Lisa) of Lodi, CA and Mark Robinson (Stephanie) of Kentfield, CA, her five grandchildren, Jarrett Robinson (Leslie), Lauren Robinson Nabors (Dylan), Christopher, Matthew and Peter Robinson and a great granddaughter Nixx Nabors. She is also survived by her brother, Carl Fink (Judy) of Lodi.
A memorial for Janet will be held privately by the family.
