JoAnn Hilscher Obituary
JoAnn was born in San Francisco to Alan and Millie Stewart on July 2, 1960. She was raised in Lodi, California and attended Lodi High School. JoAnn found great joy in baking and spending time with her 5 grandchildren. She loved the outdoors and being in the sunshine, whether it was sitting next to the pool, watching her grandkids play baseball or driving with the top down in her Mustang. She was always up for a trip to Jackson where she tried her luck on the Keno Machines. She loved decorating cakes for birthdays and always looked for an excuse to bake sweet treats. JoAnn was very creative and made a hobby of thrift store shopping. She loved music and singing to her grandchildren, often joking that she sang off key. Her great sense of humor and witty jokes will long be cherished. She had recently begun attending church at The House Modesto and enjoyed the spirit filled services. She was determined to lead others to Christ through her journey and brave fight. She was known for her big heart and generosity. She opened her home to many and even in her last days talked about helping others.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Norman. She is survived by her daughter Charise and son-in-law Josh Ladwig of San Diego, her daughter Nicole and son-in-law Justin Dankemeyer and Grandchildren- Dillon, Addi, Emma, Elli and Caitlyn of Modesto. She is also survived by her sisters Anita Warren, Kathleen Stewart, Lorraine Hartnagel and Christy Roberson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 12:30 PM at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Lodi. Reception to follow.

Charise and Nikki,
So sorry to see that your mother has passed away. I have many memories of her while the two of you were growing up with Breanne & Brett. I'll never forget the night that she helped me polish out my dented wheel on my suburban so Brad wouldn't notice when I got home. She was very kind and a heart of gold. I'm so sorry about your loss of your younger sister. I know how you must feel. I lost my baby sister Peggy when she was 53 years old with breast cancer. I have never gotten over it because she was my best and closest friend. She was my only sibling. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless you as you grieve for this precious one that will be missed by all of you.
