Joyce DeBenedetti Obituary

Joyce A. DeBenedetti, age 83, of Lodi, CA, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2009 in Stockton at the Creekside Care Center after a lengthy illness. She was born on November 6, 1926 in Surry County, North Carolina to Dallas and Pearl Wall.
Her passion in life was her family and her home. She was very dedicated to both. She enjoyed cooking holiday dinners for the family and hosting parties for her friends and family.
Joyce worked as a telephone operator in Lodi for a time. She was also employed by Newfield's as an interior decorator for several years. Later, she partnered with Jenny and Louie Demartini to open the Golden Acorn Restaurant located in Galt next to the Dry Creek Golf Course. The restaurant was very popular with patrons from Sacramento to Stockton and the surrounding areas, where they specialized in Italian Cuisine.
Joyce and her husband, Ed, joined resources with Rudy Vaccarezza, to develop Willow Oaks Golf Course located in Lodi.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 66 years, Ed DeBenedetti and their loving son, Dario and his, wife Zana DeBenedetti. Joyce was very proud of her grandchildren, Lisa (David) Clemons and Angela (Jason) Leggitt and her five great-grandchildren: Corrin, Andrew and Nicholas Clemons and Luke and Jolie Leggitt, all of Lodi. She is also survived by her brothers, David and Kay Wall and her sisters, Polly Uriz, Bobbi Payne, and Mary Statham.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Pearl Wall; her sister, Gay Shelton; and brothers, Grant, Wade and Jim Wall.
There is no visitation and committal will be private. Leonard Messer at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorial contributions in memory of Joyce may be made to the Boosters of Boys and Girls Sports (B.O.B.S.) in care of Lodi Parks and Recreation Department, 125 N. Stockton St, Lodi, CA 95240.

Vic and I are so sorry to hear about Joyce. I still hear Joyce's voice saying "What are you gonna do". Vic and I have so many fond memories of Joyce as our neighbor, friend, and traveling companion. We remember her loving bantering with Ed and standing over the cabbage soup pot giving us instructions. She has earned a well established place in our hearts. Please contact us.
