Mike Podesta Obituary

Michael "Mike" Frank Podesta passed away on August 22, 2021. While his health had been in decline for the past few years, his passing came unexpectedly.
Mike was born in Lodi, California to Frank and Betty Podesta and grew up in Clements, California. He was a brother to Barbara Podesta. He went to school in Lodi and graduated from high school with the class of 1968. He was a good athlete, he played multiple sports and earned his letterman's jacket.
Mike was one of a kind. He loved being a cowboy, and loved working on the cattle ranch. Mike's friends said that he lived by the cowboy logo, "Don't explain, don't complain." He was a loving devoted father to Lacy Podesta, he would say she was his whole world. Whether it was camping, spending time by the river, walking the nature trail or taking off to the beach he always made sure they were doing something together. He loved being around kids and loved being 'Uncle Mike' to many other children.
He was a good man with a caring spirit. He wasn't a man of many words, but when he spoke, he told it like it is. Words that come to mind when describing Mike include kind, smart, caring, tender, and generous with his time, and who showed up no matter what.
Mike had many lifelong friends. He was described by them as loyal, empathetic, and was a no B.S. kind of friend. Although he tried to project a tough cowboy image, he had a soft and loving heart.
Mike in his day liked to have a good time, even if it meant bending the rules a bit, but it was all in good fun. Mike was a handsome guy, many would compare his looks to the actor Sam Elliott, along with that deep cowboy voice as well.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Barbara. Mike is survived by his loving daughter, Lacy Podesta, of Lodi, and friends that became like family.
He loved and was loved by so many and he will be incredibly missed.
In his honor there will be a celebration of Life which will be held at Clements School on Sunday, October 3rd at 1:00pm. Please come out and celebrate Mike if you can and bring your good memories to share. Food will be provided.

In my younger years, I spent a lot at his house on Hwy. 12 where his ranch was located. His dad and my Dad, Howard, were good buddies. His dad use to help up work cattle. Frank and Betty were good people. I played with Mike and Barbara whenever I was there at the ranch. We were always friends over the years...
