Peter Barth Obituary

Peter Blair Barth, 59, of Lodi, died June 10, 2021 at Stanford Hospital with his wife and children at his side, following a lengthy battle with esophageal cancer.
He was raised in Stockton, the youngest of five children. Peter graduated from St. Mary's High School where he was an honor student and the center and captain of the football team. Peter earned a bachelor of science in agricultural economics at the University of California, Davis, where he met his wife Kathleen Hatfield. There he was active in his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, where he acquired the nickname "king of fun."
Peter had a sharp wit. He was a serious student and a hard worker. Upon graduation he quickly went to work for CTI Helicopters in Dallas. He returned home to marry Kathleen and the couple settled in Lodi to start their family. Peter co-founded and managed California Carwash, then found his true passion at O-G Packing, as the head field man, coordinating harvest for 30 years. He dedicated himself to the family company: One could surmise the nature of the year's cherry crop by reading the furrow in Peter's brow every April.
Peter was a sports fan and lucky enough both of his children were natural athletes. He coached youth basketball and soccer. He was an avid reader, ping pong enthusiast, and barbecue master, organizing events at family gatherings and in his back yard with his beloved and rambunctious dogs throughout his illness. He was an active member of St. Anne's Catholic Church.
Peter's greatest joy was being with his wife, son and daughter at their cottage in Aptos where they hosted family and friends at their favorite beach and grilled dinner in the backyard.
Peter is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Tucker Barth and Helen Ryan Barth. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his daughter, Madeleine; his son, Max; his dogs, Blue and Mason; his siblings, Dianne Barth-Feist, Blake Barth, Valerie Caffese, and Tucker Barth; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. A.J. Puthilath, and the medical team at Stanford Hospital for their brilliant care over these past five years. Abundant gratitude to the Gotelli Family and his friends at O-G Packing for their dear support.
We will honor Peter with a Memorial Mass at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 215 W. Walnut St., Lodi, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2021.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Mary's High School Peter Barth Memorial Scholarship, P.O. Box 7247, Stockton, Ca. 95267-0247.

Pete will be dearly missed. I have SO many happy memories of Pete and his beautiful family. Our children went through St Anne´s and St Mary´s together. Pete coached our daughter Erin in soccer and basketball. Pete was a great father, husband and friend. Always had a smile for anyone he encountered. God Bless you Pete and God bless Kathleen , Maddie and Max.
You are very loved,

I'm so sorry to hear of Peter's passing. I'm sure Mom & Dad (Jean & Tom Burns) are with him now along with his parents. I believe my parents were Peter's godparents.
God Bless,
