Ruby Martell

1925 - 2008

Ruby Martell (83) of Morrestown, N. J. passed away May 11, 2008 at Lutheran Care In Morrestown, NJ.  She was born January 5, 1925 in Tuttle, North Dakota. 
As a child she moved with her family to McLaughlin, South Dakota where she attended grade school and high school.  She then moved to Berkeley, CA and worked in San Francisco where she was employed at the South Pacific Railroad office. 
She met her husband, Herbert Martell, who was stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco.  After WW II they moved to Lodi, California where Mrs. 
Martell worked for Dr. W. G. Fessler for 28 years as a medical secretary and transcriber.
She was an active member of Temple Baptist Church in Lodi, CA.  She took great pleasure in her family and church, serving on the church board and teaching Sunday school.  She enjoyed music, antique doll collecting and reading; as well as fishing, camping and hiking with her family.
Mrs. Martell was preceded in death by her loving husband Herbert, and four brothers; Reuben, Eugene, LeRoy and Vernon Meisch and one sister, Lillian Hinsz. 
She is survived by one son, Jeffrey Martell of Eugene, OR, one daughter, Nancy Nugent and son in law Jerold Nugent of Lumberton, NJ, and two grandchildren Emily Nugent of St. Paul, MN and Adam Nugent and his wife Carolina of El Paso, TX; and one sister, Irene Schulz, of Lodi, CA. 
There will be no visitation.  A Memorial Service will be held at Temple Baptist Church, 801 S. Lower Sacramento 
Road, Lodi, CA, June 14th, at 10:30 a.m.   In lieu of flowers, 
memorial donations may be made to Lutheran Social Ministries of NJ, 6 Terri Lane, Suite 300, Burlington, NJ  08016 or to Temple Baptist Church, 801 S. Lower Sacramento Road, Lodi, CA. Cheroke Memorial Park is in charge of local arrangements.
